General information
Saskatoon is more or less in the centre of Canada in prairie country where agriculture is still the main industry and a main focus at the University of Saskatchewan. Saskatoon is a rapidly growing city and is host to a jazz festival and other cultural events.

In late September we still have sunny days with day temperatures above 10-15°C but at night it can be 5°C, so bring a coat! You will see signs at the airport and around the city saying Saskatoon ‘Shines’ this is to reflect Saskatoon’s quality of life, attitude, scenery, culture, facilities leadership and people. It's a single word capturing everything Saskatoon has to offer, things always shine in Saskatoon!

Travel information
The airport in Saskatoon has regular flights from major international airports elsewhere in Canada and the US. From Europe and elsewhere in the world you will probably need to change planes in Toronto, Calgary or Ottawa. There are taxis available at the airport to take you to your hotel in downtown Saskatoon, cost will be about $Canadian ($CDN) 25.

Hotel information
There are several slightly cheaper hotels near the airport but the seed lab is nearer to the main downtown hotels which will also give participants easy walking access to the in-town shopping malls and restaurants.
A special rate of $CDN 128 plus tax (12% total $CDN 143.36) per night has been negotiated with the Parktown Hotel for the duration of the workshop. Pick up and drop off on the days of the workshop have also been arranged for this hotel. Participants will be collected from the Parktown Hotel at 8:00 am on 27th September 2011.

If participants would like to stay elsewhere they will be responsible for getting to and from the CFIA’s Seed Laboratory (01-421, Downey Road, Saskatoon) themselves. Check-in is at the CFIA reception on the second floor and the laboratory is on the third floor.

Parktown hotel reservation

Hotel reservation required at workshop hotel (Parktown) at $CDN 128 plus taxes (12%) (total $CDN 143.36) bed only.
Please note: Hotel fee to be paid locally by participant.
