Other Seed Determination is part of the purity analysis, and the proficiency of seed identification is a requirement for the ISTA Accreditation. To provide training and seed specimens to ISTA member laboratories in need, the PT Committee organised 6 rounds of the so-called seed mixtures tests. These samples were distributed to the participants of the proficiency tests from the year 2011 until 2017. All participants were treated as volunteers for this test as the test was not rated but it was considered as a pure training exercise. The photos of the expected seeds within the seed mixtures were published on the ISTA website.
At the ISTA Annual Meeting 2017, it has been decided that the ISTA PUR Committee takes over this training task. The samples distribution will remain annually within the PT most visited round.
