ISTA Workshop on Insect Detection in Seed Testing
The overall aim of the workshop is to provide information on insect detection in seed lots and to enable participants to practise the different methods that can be used. During the theoretical presentations and training sessions, participants will gain an insight into the potential and limitations of using these methods in seed testing. Some information on how to identify insects will also be presented. The workshop will also encourage general discussion and feedback on this increasing issue.

Workshop content*
- Tuesday: SNES visit (optional) and Seminar. This part will include presentations on insect taxonomy, on technologies and hands on experiences.
- Wednesday: Demonstration of different methods on two seed/insect models (Bruchus spp./Fabaceae and Sitophilus granarius/wheat) and round table discussion on the needs, advantages and disadvantages of the methods and their applicability between the participants, the experts on the methods and the experts on the insects.
*The language will be English – no translation.

Participation Fee:
Indicate the amount from the budget form for ISTA Members: 450€
Indicate the amount from the budget form for non-ISTA Members: 675€
The participation fee includes all literature and supporting material for the workshop, lunches and coffee breaks, workshop dinner and transfer between the workshop venue and hotels (except airport transfer).
It does not include accommodation or meals other than those specified.
The number of participants is for a minimum of 15 and restricted to a maximum of 25 participants.
If you would like to attend the workshop, please fill in the registration form. An invoice will be sent to you, which has to be paid before the participation confirmation will be generated. You can pay by credit card upon individual request to the ISTA Secretariat.
Registration deadline is 31 January 2025.
Please note:
- For cancellations made before 31 January 2025 registration fees are refundable less EUR 50.00 administration fee.
- For cancellations made after 31 January 2025 registration fees are non-refundable.
Accommodation:
A range of accommodation is available in Angers. We will aim for all participants to stay in the same or nearby accommodation. Please contact the local organiser for accommodation options and how to book.
